Encouraging women to be physically active during menopause and postmenopause through walking.
WomenWalking4Health is a European Erasmus+ Sport project, coordinated by Physis Outdoor Training, that promotes a healthier and more active lifestyle for women during menopause and postmenopause, using walking as an accessible, flexible and sustainable form of physical activity.
The project recognises that women may face physical, psychological, social and environmental barriers that can make regular physical activity more difficult during this stage of life. WomenWalking4Health therefore explores these barriers and develops practical approaches to help women integrate walking into their everyday lives and improve both their physical and mental well-being.
Through research, European cooperation and practical walking activities, the project develops training resources and guidance for instructors and Walk Leaders, helping them design safe, inclusive and motivating walking programmes adapted to the needs of women during menopause and postmenopause.
The project also encourages the use of digital tools and health applications to support motivation, monitor physical activity and help participants establish sustainable active-lifestyle habits.
By combining walking, education, motivation, social support and community participation, WomenWalking4Health aims to demonstrate that a simple and accessible activity such as walking can become an effective tool for improving health, well-being and quality of life.
Physis Outdoor Training, as the project coordinator, leads the implementation and cooperation between the project partners in Greece, Austria and Slovakia, supporting the exchange of knowledge, good practices and practical approaches for promoting physical activity, inclusion and healthy ageing across Europe.
Every step counts towards a healthier and more active life.
