Connecting schools and sports clubs through basketball.

Bask@School was a European Erasmus+ Sport project that used basketball as a tool to encourage children and young people to become more physically active and to develop healthy and active lifestyle habits.

The main objective of the project was to improve the relationship between schools and sports clubs, identifying effective ways for these organisations to work together and create opportunities for children and young people to participate regularly in sport.

Basketball was used as the main reference activity because of its strong educational and social potential. Through basketball-based activities, Bask@School aimed not only to increase participation in physical activity but also to promote values such as teamwork, cooperation, inclusion, communication and healthy behaviour.

An important part of the project was the analysis of the existing relationship between schools and sports clubs in the participating countries. Based on this work, the partners developed guidelines and practical recommendations to support schools and clubs in creating joint programmes that can encourage more children to become involved in sport.

The project also investigated the factors that may prevent children from participating in organised basketball and sports activities, helping the partners better understand barriers such as lack of time, cost, motivation, environmental conditions or lack of social support.

Physis Outdoor Training participated as the Greek partner, contributing its experience in physical education, basketball, youth sport and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Together with the other European partners, Physis supported the implementation of project activities and the development of approaches that strengthen cooperation between schools and sports organisations.

The Bask@School partnership brought together organisations from Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Greece, creating a European exchange of experiences and good practices around school sport, basketball and youth participation.

By bringing schools, sports clubs, coaches, teachers and young people closer together, Bask@School contributed to creating more opportunities for children to discover sport, participate regularly and develop positive habits that can continue throughout their lives.
